On the real estate front, we saw 11 properties sell for March 2019, which is down from this time last year. One of the major factors was the late winter snowfall in the first half of the month followed by spring break. Typically real estate sales slow down during the spring break period as many families are away on vacation escaping the last blast of winter.
Overall we saw marginal decreases in the average price of single family dwellings (-3%) and single family dwellings with acreages (-8%) versus March 2018. Please not all real estate statistics are provided courtesy of the Kootenay Real Estate Board.
We should see sales pickup as we move into April which is typically the start of the spring market season for the Grand Forks and Christina Lake areas.
